I am deliriously happy to announce, to my family, to my friends, and to the visitors of this site from around the world, the birth of my daughter, Grace Katherine Lewis. For the sake of statistics, she was born at 2:25 AM on October 3rd, 2003, weighing 9 pounds 15 ounces, and was measured at 23 inches. This is my first child, and I am now in the process of learning fatherhood at the tender age of 41. For comparison's sake, my younger brother has a 15 year old daughter. By the way, a special hello to Adriane if she sees this.
So I thought that I would post some pictures of the kidlet on the site. The first roll of film, which was shot during and after delivery, did not develop. It's a damned shame, but what can you do? Besides, those visions are best kept where they are. The shots I'm posting here are kind of washed out, but I hope they look alright on the page.
I introduce to you the lovely Grace. She is a delightful child (except when not properly burped) and has quite a set of lungs. I'll be signing her up for DETOUR next week. We had her out for a doctor's visit, and I had to get a shot of her with my wife Paula.
Notice the haggard look on my face as I feed my daughter. It takes a bit of time to wrap your head around the sleep schedule (or the lack thereof) of an infant. One other thing is that she throws her head around, so I have to keep a hand somewhere near, just in case.
Yet another shameless plug of the father/daughter pictures. Also, a shot of the baby with my mother. My parents drove up from Cincinnati to see the baby. Grace spit up on Mom; she didn't care. My Dad slept on the couch; I actually have photographic evidence.
There are, of course3, other photos. I am attempting to use Photoshop to set up a catalog of photos from the recent Christmas holiday. Enjoy.
